Rumour has it, I drew a bird on a piece of toilet roll way before I ever wrote a word. From that day onwards, drawing has been in my blood making my fingers and imagination restless for ways to express myself in never-ending lines.
Inspired from an early age by the titanic illustrations of John Buscema’s Conan The Barbarian and the garish exploits of superheroes, I became obsessed with this kind of art. Countless artists have helped shape my artistic landscape; Andrew Wyeth, Arthur Rackham, Frank Frazetta, Rodney Matthews and many more incredible contemporary illustrators. I draw on a vast pool of influences from film, literature and music. All these disciplines go hand in hand and all offer deliciously tantalizing and different perspectives.
I live on the coast of South Devon (UK) where I can sniff the seasalt and can hear the percussive sounds of wind whipping through the rigging of boats in the local boatyard. Within striking distance is the rugged and ancient drama of Dartmoor, a place steeped in mystery and legend, a panorama lifted straight from Middle Earth.
My work, although highly illustrative, looks amazing framed on the wall. I am happy to talk about any commission or idea you have buzzing around. There is nothing better than a privately commissioned, one off piece of art on your wall.
I specialize in fantasy and heroic art, even better if it’s heroic fantasy, but in turn this translates into an artist skilled in illustration, editorial and cover art.
